Mckenna Grace Is Olivia in New Nimrods Character Poster for Green Day Comedy

Mckenna Grace finally has a name in Green Day’s big-screen comedy. A new character poster released ahead of the film’s August theatrical debut introduces her as Olivia, billed simply as “the crush,” and it marks the first time the character has been publicly identified by name after months of the role sitting undisclosed in cast listings. The image finds Grace mid-laugh in profile, blond hair falling across her face, cut out and layered over a torn-paper collage of green, black and yellow with scattered punk-zine stars, the whole design nodding hard at the DIY flyer aesthetic that Green Day came up in. The film’s title treatment sits at the top in ransom-note brushwork alongside the line “a Green Day comedy” and a credit for writer and director Lee Kirk.

The poster arrives as Nimrods heads into its final promotional stretch before opening in theaters on August 14. The coming-of-age road comedy follows three high school friends, played by Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman and Ryan Foust, who pile into a van and drive to Los Angeles under the badly mistaken belief that their fledgling band has been booked to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. What follows is a rowdy cross-country misadventure drawn from the band’s own years of scraping by in a tour van before Dookie turned them into one of the biggest acts on the planet in 1994. Grace plays into that setup as the object of teenage longing that any story about a garage band chasing an impossible gig requires, and the “the crush” tag on her poster suggests the film knows exactly which coming-of-age archetype it is having fun with.

Kirk wrote and directed the film and developed the script directly with Green Day, whose members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool serve as producers and also appear in the movie. Kirk previously directed Armstrong in the 2016 drama Ordinary World, and the title of this one references Nimrod, the band’s 1997 album that produced “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” and went double platinum. Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Sean Gunn, Bobby Lee, Fred Armisen, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio and Keen Ruffalo round out the ensemble. Live Nation Studios developed and executive produced the project, with Inaugural Entertainment handling the U.S. release in partnership with fan-owned company Legion M.

The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025 under its original title, New Years Rev, before Inaugural picked it up in April and rebranded it as Nimrods. The first trailer landed in June and leaned into the culture-clash comedy of three nobodies from nowhere colliding with their idols, and this new run of character posters looks like the campaign’s push to give each member of the ensemble their own moment before opening weekend.

For Grace, Olivia lands in the middle of an unusually crowded run. She closed out 2025 with Regretting You, Anniversary and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, appeared in Scream 7 earlier this year, and has Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie still to come. Nimrods gives her something looser than most of that slate, a summer comedy with a soundtrack pedigree that essentially sells itself to anyone who ever owned a copy of Dookie on cassette, and she is contributing to the soundtrack herself with the recently released single “It’s So Fine.”
