Mckenna Grace Opens Up About Her Faith And Body Image Journey Ahead Of Nimrods

Mckenna Grace is getting personal just as she heads into one of her biggest release weeks of the year. In a June episode of Glamour’s “Girlhood Firsts” video series, Grace shared a memory from her recovery after major scoliosis surgery, describing a moment in church when she finally felt like herself again. She recalled standing and listening to the music, freshly back into her workout routine and with her hair newly styled, and being overcome with tears because it was the first time in a long while that she genuinely liked what she saw. It is a striking detail from an actor who spent years quietly managing an increasingly severe spinal curve before going public with her diagnosis, and it adds a new layer to a story she has only recently started to tell in full.

Grace’s faith has also shaped smaller, funnier parts of her public persona, including her aversion to cursing. In a Hollywood Reporter feature tied to her Scream 7 press run earlier this year, Grace explained that she started saying “jeepers” after voicing a young version of Daphne Blake in 2020’s Scoob!, and that the word stuck around as a fun alternative for whenever she does not want to actually curse. She has called it a full circle moment now that she is playing Daphne herself in the upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo: Origins.

The film follows three friends who mistakenly believe their band has been booked to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve, drawing from the band’s own rowdy, van-dwelling years before their breakout album Dookie. Grace also recently released an original song, “It’s So Fine,” as part of the film’s soundtrack.
