Wile E. Coyote is finally getting his day in court, and audiences are getting their first real look at it. A fresh teaser for “Coyote vs. Acme” hit the internet today, with the full trailer set to arrive tomorrow.
The short preview is meant as a warm-up. A fuller look at the long-delayed live-action and animation hybrid is expected to land in the next 24 hours, offering fans their clearest glimpse yet at a project many assumed would never see the light of day.
The road here has been strange. Warner Bros. Discovery famously shelved the completed film in 2023 as a tax write-off, a decision that sparked outrage from filmmakers, fans, and industry watchers who had seen early test screenings praise the movie. After months of public pressure and reported bidding interest from rival studios, Ketchup Entertainment stepped in, purchased the film, and committed to giving it a theatrical run.
Now that run is close. Ketchup set an August 28 release date, putting the movie squarely in the late-summer box office window.
The premise leans into the gag every cartoon fan already knows. After years of faulty rockets, misfiring catapults, and anvils that refuse to cooperate, Wile E. Coyote has finally had enough. He hires a lawyer and takes the Acme Corporation to court. John Cena plays the slick opposing counsel representing Acme. Will Forte plays the underdog attorney taking the coyote’s case.
Dave Green directs. The script comes from a team that includes producer James Gunn, whose involvement dates back to the project’s original development before his move to DC Studios. The film mixes live-action courtroom scenes with classic Looney Tunes animation, a format that echoes “Space Jam” and “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”.
The teaser itself is brief. No plot spoilers, no character breakdowns. Just a taste.
The full trailer arrives tomorrow.
