The anticipation for Sam Mendes’ ambitious Beatles biopic project has reached a new high as the first official photos of the actors stepping into the shoes of the Fab Four have surfaced. In a unique marketing reveal that quickly spread across social media today, these initial glimpses of the leading men in character were distributed via postcards hidden throughout the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts—the very school co-founded by Paul McCartney.
The four-film cinematic event, which is reportedly operating with a massive budget of $400 million, will provide a dedicated perspective for each member of the band. The newly released images showcase the striking transformations of Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison. Notably, Keoghan was recently spotted in London sporting a signature “mop-top” haircut, further teasing the era-specific accuracy fans can expect.
While the postcards have sparked debate among fans—specifically regarding the likeness of Joseph Quinn’s George Harrison—the project remains a historic milestone. This is the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and the surviving Beatles have granted full authorization for their life stories and music to be used in a scripted film series. The ensemble cast is equally impressive, featuring Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey, and Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd. James Norton has also been confirmed to play the band’s legendary manager, Brian Epstein.
Under the direction of Mendes and featuring scripts from writers like Jez Butterworth and Jack Thorne, the films are being produced through Neal Street Productions in association with Sony Pictures. Cinematographer Greig Fraser, known for his work on Dune and The Batman, is set to capture the visual aesthetic of the quartet. Dubbed a “bingeable theatrical experience” by Sony, all four films are currently scheduled for a simultaneous global release in April 2028.
