Universal and Blumhouse have released a new trailer for “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” offering the clearest look yet at where the sequel is headed before it opens in theaters on December 5. The footage leans into game lore with quick cuts of security monitors, ominous rule posters, and upgraded suits that point to a wider threat beyond the pizzeria.

The trailer confirms the return of Josh Hutcherson as Mike, Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa, Piper Rubio as Abby, and Matthew Lillard. New faces spotlighted in the marketing include Skeet Ulrich, Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, Teo Briones, and Freddy Carter. Emma Tammi returns to direct, with series creator Scott Cawthon producing alongside Jason Blum.

Story cues suggest the sequel takes place about a year after the events of the first film, with Abby’s lingering connection to the animatronics drawing everyone back into danger. There are glimpses of action outside Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza and a local celebration that hints the legend has spilled into town, raising the stakes for the characters.

Fans will notice unmistakable nods to the Toy versions of Freddy and friends, along with a stronger spotlight on Springtrap. The trailer showcases practical creature work blended with visual effects to bring the new models to life, continuing the approach that defined the first film while setting up a broader mythology.

“Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” is set for theatrical release on December 5.
