Angel Studios and Wonder Project Reveal Teaser for ‘Young Washington,’ a Film Exploring George Washington’s Untold Early Years
2 mins readAngel Studios and Wonder Project have released the first teaser trailer for Young Washington, a forthcoming feature film that explores the formative years of George Washington before his rise as America’s first president. The historical drama is slated for a nationwide theatrical release during Independence Day weekend in 2026, aligning with the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Directed by Jon Erwin, the film revisits a little-known period in Washington’s life when a costly mistake during the French and Indian War forced him to face failure and redefine what leadership truly meant. The story captures his transformation from an ambitious young officer to a man shaped by humility, courage, and conviction.
Brandon Purdie, Head of Theatrical Distribution and Brand Development at Angel Studios, said the newly released teaser “captures the tension, courage, and humanity of a leader whose formative story has rarely been told on screen.”
The film stars William Franklyn-Miller (Medici), Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), Kelsey Grammer (Frasier), Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings), and Ben Kingsley (Gandhi). The screenplay was written by Jon Erwin, Tom Provost, and Diederik van Hoogstraten.
Young Washington continues the collaboration between Angel Studios and Wonder Project, both known for creating values-driven entertainment that brings historical and faith-based stories to audiences worldwide.
The film will open in theaters nationwide during Independence Day weekend 2026. For more information, visit the official website.
