Starting in January 2026, YouTube will become the largest digital home for Sesame Street. The expansion comes through a new partnership with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind the long-running children’s program, which will make hundreds of classic episodes available on the platform alongside new content created specifically for YouTube.

This move positions YouTube as the go-to destination for Sesame Street fans, offering the broadest library of episodes available in one place. The news follows other recent distribution changes for the series: Netflix will begin streaming season 56 in November while also offering around 90 hours of library content, and PBS Kids will air new episodes the same day they arrive on Netflix. HBO Max, meanwhile, continues to host a selection of past programming.

The addition to YouTube builds on the show’s growing presence there. Over the past year, Sesame Street content on the platform has grown by more than 130 percent in viewership, surpassing 5 billion views. The show will now sit alongside other popular children’s programming on YouTube, further strengthening the platform’s lineup.

Beyond making classic episodes available, Sesame Workshop will also contribute by leading seminars for YouTube creators. These sessions will share insights on producing content that entertains while also supporting learning — a hallmark of Sesame Street since its debut in 1969.

The YouTube partnership caps off a year of change for Sesame Workshop. After losing its long-running output deal with HBO last December, the nonprofit found new homes for the series with both Netflix and PBS Kids. The expanded deal with YouTube ensures that the program’s legacy episodes will remain accessible to new generations of viewers.

With this announcement, Sesame Street takes another step in adapting to the digital age, making its rich history easier to experience than ever before.
