New additions to the cast include Barrett Doss, Mary Holland, Michael Hough, Kowen Cadorath, Thosh Collins, Maclean Fish, and Rebecca Amzallag. Each will take on a recurring role in the series, expanding the community of Independence—the central setting for the show.
Barrett Doss plays Emily Henderson, the warm and capable proprietor of the town’s General Store. Emily takes in Caleb, a quiet, orphaned boy who finds his way into town and is portrayed by Kowen Cadorath.
Mary Holland appears as Jemma James, a self-assured town busybody with a hint of big-city flair. She’s married to Eli James, played by Michael Hough, who works for the railroad and is welcoming toward new settlers.
Thosh Collins will play Louis, the even-tempered cousin of White Sun. Maclean Fish takes on the role of Adam Scott, whose outward charm and polished demeanor hint at a life untouched by hardship. Rebecca Amzallag joins as Lacey Aubert, a content and independent widow who runs a card room and bar at the edge of town.
The reboot, based on the semi-autobiographical novels by Laura Ingalls Wilder, will feature a central cast that includes Alice Halsey as Laura, with Luke Bracey, Crosby Fitzgerald, and Skywalker Hughes as Charles, Caroline, and Mary Ingalls. Other series regulars include Jocko Sims, Warren Christie, Meegwun Fairbrother, Wren Zhawenim Gotts, Xander Cole, and Alyssa Wapanatâhk.
Described as a blend of heartfelt family drama, survival story, and origin tale of the American West, the series is helmed by showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine and produced by CBS Studios. Filming began in June in Winnipeg.
