A fresh musical take on a beloved literary classic is just around the corner. Jo – The Little Women Musical, an all-new adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s timeless coming-of-age story, is gearing up for its full studio album release with the debut of three standout singles now available for pre-order.
Recorded at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios, the production showcases a star-studded cast from Broadway, the West End, and beyond, supported by a lush 29-piece orchestra. Among the early releases is “Fly Away,” performed by Christine Allado, who brings the role of Jo March to life. Also featured is Tony Award winner Laura Benanti as Marmee March, lending her voice to the track “Between the Earth and Sky.” The duet “My Captive Heart,” sung by Sophie Pollono and Rob Houchen, rounds out the trio of preview singles.
The music is composed by Dan Redfeld, with book and lyrics by Christina Harding and John Gabriel Koladziej. Notably, five-time Grammy nominee and three-time Emmy winner Nigel Wright joins Redfeld as co-producer on the album, describing it as one of the highlights of his career.
Fans won’t have to wait long for the full experience. The complete studio cast recording drops globally on May 23 and will be available across major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and Amazon Music. Meanwhile, sheet music for “My Captive Heart” will also be released on May 8.
Looking ahead, a semi-staged concert presentation is planned for London, directed by JoAnn M. Hunter, whose Broadway credits include School of Rock and Bad Cinderella.
