Sadie Sink is stepping into a bold new role in O’Dessa, a post-apocalyptic rock opera that blends music, rebellion, and a striking visual aesthetic. The first trailer, released by Searchlight Pictures, introduces audiences to a vibrant dystopian world where music becomes an act of defiance.
Set against a cyberpunk-inspired wasteland, O’Dessa follows Sink’s character as she embarks on a journey from her humble farm roots to a neon-lit city ruled by a menacing entertainment mogul, played by Murray Bartlett. Alongside Sink, the film features performances from Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Regina Hall.
The film marks the latest directorial effort from Geremy Jasper, who also wrote the screenplay and composed the music alongside Jason Binnick. O’Dessa is set to have its world premiere at the SXSW Festival on March 8 before making its streaming debut on Hulu on March 13.
Sink, known for her work in Stranger Things and The Whale, has spoken about the challenges of stepping into a role that required her to sing live on set. Reflecting on the experience, she shared in an interview last year that while the process was intimidating, it also led to moments of empowerment.
With its unique blend of music and high-energy storytelling, O’Dessa promises to be a standout addition to Hulu’s lineup.
