Disney has released the first official trailer for its upcoming live-action remake of the classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” The film stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, offering a fresh take on the beloved story.

During the D23 Expo, Zegler and Gadot discussed their roles and the experience of bringing these characters to life. Zegler described the opportunity to play Snow White as “the honor of a lifetime,” sharing that it was an incredible experience to portray such an iconic character. Gadot, known for her previous roles as a hero, expressed her excitement about taking on the challenge of playing the Evil Queen, noting that the role was “completely different” from anything she had done before.

The film is directed by Marc Webb, known for his work on “The Amazing Spider-Man,” and aims to stay true to the original 1937 animated film while incorporating modern elements. The story follows Snow White as she escapes from her jealous stepmother, the Evil Queen, and finds refuge with a group of seven dwarfs. This adaptation, however, focuses more on Snow White’s journey toward self-discovery and leadership.

Zegler emphasized that her portrayal of Snow White moves away from the traditional narrative of seeking true love. Instead, Snow White is portrayed as a strong and independent character, determined to become the leader her late father encouraged her to be. Zegler stated, “[Snow White’s] not gonna be dreaming about true love. She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be.”

The film also introduces new characters and features new songs by the songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, in addition to the original movie’s classic tunes. The cast includes Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman and Andrew Burnap in a new role as Jonathan.

Originally set for release on March 22, 2024, “Snow White” has been moved to March 21, 2025.
