Emma Myers Advises ‘Wednesday’ Fans: ‘Ship’ Characters, Not Real-Life People

NOTE: This article is 11 months old and may not include the most recent information.

Emma Myers, who stars as Enid in the hit series “Wednesday,” recently spoke out about fan culture and the phenomenon of ‘shipping.’ For those unfamiliar, ‘shipping’ refers to fans imagining or wishing for a romantic relationship between characters in a show or movie. While this can be a fun and engaging aspect of fandom, Myers cautions against extending these fantasies to the real-life actors behind the characters.

In a recent interview with NME, Myers shared her thoughts on the intense shipping of her character Enid with Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday. “I’ve grown up as a big fan of things, so I know how the ‘shipping goes online, so I understand,” Myers explained. However, she emphasized the importance of keeping these fantasies confined to the fictional world. “‘Ship who you want as long as you’re not dragging real-life people into it.”

Myers recounted how she and Ortega would joke about the shipping phenomenon during the filming of season one, never anticipating just how fervent the fanbase would become. Despite the intensity, Myers maintains a positive outlook, recognizing it as part of the fun and engagement that fans bring to the show. “If you want to ‘ship’ those characters, go for it. We made a couple of jokes about it here and there when filming, but we didn’t think that side of the fandom would be so big and intense. But it’s all in good fun,” she added.

Exciting New Additions to ‘Wednesday’ Season Two

The excitement doesn’t end with fan interactions. The highly anticipated second season of “Wednesday” is already creating a buzz with its impressive new cast members. Following its record-breaking first season, which became the most popular TV show on Netflix, the production for season two is well underway in Ireland.

Returning to their iconic roles are Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Christina Ricci, and Gwendoline Christie. Adding to the star-studded lineup are new guest stars Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley, and Thandiwe Newton. Fans of the original “The Addams Family” will be thrilled to hear that Christopher Lloyd is also set to make an appearance, though his role remains a mystery.

In a teaser trailer released by Netflix, the beloved character Thing, a disembodied hand, is seen delivering scripts to the doors of these new cast members, giving fans a sneak peek at what’s to come. Jenna Ortega has teased that the upcoming season will feature “more horror” and be “a lot more action-packed,” promising that each episode will feel “a little bit more like a movie.”

With such an array of talent and the promise of an even more thrilling storyline, “Wednesday” season two is shaping up to be an unmissable event. Fans can look forward to its release in spring 2025, eager to see how the story of Wednesday and her friends continues to unfold.
