Exciting news, Beetlejuice fans – the ghost with the most is back, and he’s bringing a new generation of Deetz women with him. In a newly-released image from ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’, the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 supernatural comedy, we finally get to see Jenna Ortega in character as Lydia’s daughter, Astrid.

The image showcases Ortega alongside returning stars Winona Ryder (Lydia Deetz) and Catherine O’Hara (Delia Deetz), hinting at the sequel’s focus on the three generations of Deetz women. Ortega, no stranger to spooky roles thanks to her iconic turn in ‘Wednesday’, looks right at home in the eerie world of Beetlejuice.

Another image gives us a glimpse of Michael Keaton reprising his role as the titular bio-exorcist, looking as mischievous as ever. According to director Tim Burton, the emotional core of the sequel revolves around the Deetz ladies, a focus that finally convinced him and Keaton to return to the world of Beetlejuice after years of mulling over potential follow-up ideas.

The film, set decades after the original, sees the family reuniting under mysterious circumstances involving a death – one that apparently sets Beetlejuice loose once more. Joining the familiar faces are a host of newcomers, including Justin Theroux in an undisclosed role, Monica Bellucci, ‘Poor Things’ star Willem Dafoe as a deceased actor-turned-afterlife lawman, and ‘House of the Dragon’ alum Arthur Conti.

While ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ is still in post-production, it’s set to materialize in theaters on September 6. Keep checking back here for more updates as the release date inches closer, and in the meantime, feast your eyes on these two tantalizing images that promise a wild ride back into the world of the afterlife’s most notorious troublemaker.
