Entertainment company A24 recently revealed plans for a new tribute album inspired by the Talking Heads’ renowned 1984 concert film “Stop Making Sense.” Directed by Jonathan Demme, the movie captured the band’s live performances over several nights in 1983 through innovative filming techniques.
Last year, A24 re-released the concert documentary in theaters to commemorate its 40th anniversary. The rerelease broke records to become the highest grossing live event film in IMAX history.
The upcoming album will compile covers of Talking Heads songs from the film’s setlist by 16 contemporary artists. Rock band Paramore is one of the contributors announced so far. In a posted teaser clip, singer Hayley Williams receives the iconic oversized suit jacket worn by Talking Heads frontman David Byrne during the original concerts. The video then shows a preview of Paramore taking on the band’s classic “Burning Down the House.”
