Streaming platform Hulu has obtained the exclusive US broadcasting rights to the popular Canadian sitcom “Run The Burbs.” The award-winning show will be available on Hulu starting December 31, 2023.

Centered around a Vietnamese/South Asian-Canadian family in suburbia, “Run The Burbs” stars comedian Andrew Phung as a stay-at-home father of two children. Phung previously gained recognition for his role on CBC’s “Kim’s Convenience.”

The Hulu acquisition comes on the heels of the show’s season 5 renewal on CBC. It provides a second US window after a brief run on The CW earlier this year. While no longer airing on The CW linear channel, “Run The Burbs” remains viewable on their digital platforms.

Hulu subscribers will be able to stream the first two seasons on New Year’s Eve, followed by the season 3 premiere on CBC in January.

Over its four-season run, “Run The Burbs” has received praise for its comedic portrayal of a Canadian suburban family and contemporary themes around family life. Industry observers see potential to draw interest from US audiences, following the successful expansion of other classic Canadian comedies such as “Schitt’s Creek” onto American streaming services.
