This Halloween, we’re bringing back memories with a nostalgic treat from the Entertainment Tonight vault. In this recently shared video, a 13-year-old Christina Ricci opens up about her transformation into the iconic character of Wednesday Addams for “Addams Family Values.”
Filmed in 1993 on the movie’s set, Christina takes us through the meticulous process of becoming Wednesday. “First, they’d come in and put my hair up in a wrap. They put it in like three big pin curls and put the stocking cap over it. They put my makeup on, of course, made me really pale, and they did weird stuff to my eyes. And then they’d put the wig on me,” she details.
Her favorite filming moment was the Thanksgiving play at Camp Chippewa, which she likened to an action-packed adventure. “It was really like shooting an action-adventure film. There were people diving on set and shooting flaming arrows. It was an exciting experience,” she reminisces.
“Addams Family Values” is a testament to embracing one’s uniqueness and quirks, a theme that resonates strongly with the Addams family ethos. Christina notes that anyone “different and sort of strange is total Addams material. We just accept them right away.”
This Halloween, let’s appreciate the cinematic gem that is “Addams Family Values” and Christina Ricci’s unforgettable portrayal of Wednesday Addams. Grab your popcorn, sit back, and take a trip down memory lane with this classic film.
