Sesame Street is bringing on board fan favorites from HGTV and Food Network to star in three new unscripted specials premiering this year on Max. The 22-minute episodes have a charitable theme of giving back to the community.
Sesame Workshop’s head of creative Kay Wilson Stallings said in a statement that this is the first time they are “venturing out to aid children and families in need.” She said the specials “emphasize kindness, teamwork, resourcefulness and lending a hand.”
The specials will feature popular Sesame Street characters including Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, and others. Famous faces from HGTV and Food Network will guest star in the charity-focused episodes.
Cookie Monster Raises Dough in Bake Sale Special
Kicking things off on August 10th is Cookie Monster’s Bake Sale, which sees the cookie-craving Sesame Street icon join forces with former NFL pro and Food Network Star Eddie Jackson. Together, they will hold a bake sale to raise money for charity.
Oscar the Grouch Makes Halloween Costumes for Shelter Dogs
Next is Oscar’s Handmade Halloween premiering October 19th. In a surprisingly helpful mood, Oscar the Grouch partners with Food Network celebrity Sunny Anderson. Their goal is to create Halloween costumes for shelter dogs to help them get adopted.
Elmo and Jasmine Roth Remodel Classroom
Finally, Elmo and Tango’s Holiday Helpers arrives December 7th with a home makeover theme. HGTV designer Jasmine Roth works with Elmo and his puppy Tango to renovate an underfunded classroom in time for the holidays.
Sesame Street’s 54th season starts streaming in November on Max.
