“Beetlejuice 2”: Monica Bellucci in Talks for Ghostly Sequel

NOTE: This article is 1 year old and may not include the most recent information.

The return of a cult classic is always cause for excitement, and “Beetlejuice 2” is no exception. Tim Burton’s iconic 1988 film is being revived with a sequel, and the casting updates are steadily rolling in. According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, internationally acclaimed actress Monica Bellucci is currently in negotiations to join the star-studded cast.

Bellucci, known for her work in international cinema as well as Hollywood productions such as “The Matrix” series and “Spectre”, is currently being considered for the role of Beetlejuice’s wife. The Italian actress, currently on screens in the comedy “Mafia Mamma”, would be a new addition to the Beetlejuice universe.

“Beetlejuice 2” is being helmed by Warner Bros., with Tim Burton reprising his role as director. Jenna Ortega leads the cast, while Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder return to their iconic roles. Catherine O’Hara is also among the returnees, with Justin Theroux as a newcomer.

While specific plot details remain undisclosed, the inclusion of Bellucci’s character as Beetlejuice’s wife opens up new avenues for exploration within this darkly comedic supernatural universe. The film is scheduled for release on September 6, 2024, taking over the original date intended for Marvel’s “Blade”, which was postponed due to a writers strike.

With the film’s production underway, the excitement around “Beetlejuice 2” continues to grow. Bellucci’s potential involvement is just the latest in a series of promising developments for the sequel. Her global acting experience and diverse filmography could add a unique touch to the already eclectic Beetlejuice realm.

The anticipation for this ghostly reunion is tangible, and the addition of new faces alongside the return of beloved characters promises a fresh, yet nostalgic experience for fans old and new. As we countdown to the release, one thing is certain – “Beetlejuice 2” is a sequel to watch.
