Following social media backlash, after it was revealed by “West Side Story” star Rachel Zegler that she was not invited to the Oscars next Sunday, the actor has officially been invited and will be a presenter at the awards ceremony. The Steven Spielberg directed adaptation of “West Side Story” has seven nominations including Best Picture. While Zegler isn’t nominated directly for the starring role of Maria, it is normal for the principal cast to be present at the award ceremony if a film is nominated.
Even original 1961 “West Side Story” star Russ Tamblyn commented on the situation in disbelief asking that the Academy find her a seat.
Rachel Zegler had originally commented on an Instagram post that she was going to end up watching the ceremony at home in sweatpants and her boyfriend’s flannel instead of being there in person.
