First Look At Peyton Elizabeth Lee In Reimagined Doogie Howser Series For Disney+

NOTE: This article is 2 years old and may not include the most recent information.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming reimagined take on Doogie Howser for Disney+. The new series starring Peyton Elizabeth Lee known for her role in the Disney Channel series Andi Mack will be taking on the role of a young doctor in the series titled Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. The images released exclusively by Entertainment Weekly show Peyton Elizabeth Lee in the role.

During an interview with EW, the actor confesses that she was not familiar with the original series but her parents were fans of it.

“I was not personally familiar with the original; my parents knew about it and loved the show. When I got the audition I started watching it, but that was my first introduction to Doogie Howser.”

Peyton Elizabeth Lee also discussed some of the differences in this new series versus the original.

“One of the really cool parts about this reimagining is that we take this iconic story and bring it into the world we’re living in now. So it’s a female lead instead of a male, and she is biracial, and it’s in Hawaii so we have this beautiful backdrop. It has nods to the original but also feels very modern.”

Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. will premiere on Disney+ on September 8.

The original Doogie Howser series premiered in 1989 and featured Neil Patrick Harris in the lead role.
