Mickey’s Home Alone Trailer Turns Mickey Into Kevin McCallister

Left behind when the gang heads to a world-famous Ice Palace, Mickey and Pluto defend their Christmas dinner from a raccoon and a weasel in the Disney Jr. special premiering Thanksgiving night.

The first giveaway is the house. The trailer for Mickey’s Home Alone, Disney Jr.’s new animated spin on the 1990 holiday classic Home Alone, plays out in an animated version of the McCallister family house, and the nods keep coming from there, right down to John Williams’ music from the original film running under the trailer as Mickey steps into the Kevin role.

The setup stays true to the original. Mickey has his heart set on a quiet Christmas at home. Then Minnie walks in with a surprise for the whole gang: tickets to a world-famous Ice Palace. In the morning rush to make it out the door, Mickey and Pluto are left behind, home alone. The quiet does not last long: a raccoon and a weasel have their eyes on the pair’s Christmas dinner, and Mickey and Pluto have to protect it.

Those two are the special’s answer to the Wet Bandits, and Mickey and Pluto answer back the way Kevin McCallister would, setting traps around the house to defend it. While the battle plays out at home, Minnie and the gang realize who is missing and race to get back.

Mickey’s Home Alone premieres Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, at 6 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Jr., and streams the next day, Friday, November 27, on Disney+. If your family misses the premiere, Disney Channel airs an encore on November 30 at 7 p.m. ET/PT, and the special joins Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas on December 19 at 2 p.m. ET/PT. In New York City, it also screens throughout the day on Saturday, December 5, at The Paley Center for Media’s annual Paleyland event.

The music gets a head start on the special. An official EP arrives this Friday, November 6, with two original songs by Keith Harrison Dworkin, “Ho-Ho-Home for Christmas” and “Favorite Christmas Feeling,” plus a new arrangement of “Jingle Bells.”

Mickey’s Home Alone is produced by Wild Canary in association with Disney Jr. Tom Rogers is the executive producer and Rachel Ruderman is the co-executive producer, with Shane Prigmore directing and Tony Morales composing the score. It caps a big Mickey week in the holiday lineup: the night before Thanksgiving, his 1983 classic Mickey’s Christmas Carol returns to ABC for the first time since 2003.
