Gizmo is back. Warner Bros. has shared the first teaser for Gremlins 3, an 11-second clip that shows the beloved Mogwai popping out of a backpack before revealing the sequel’s new release date: October 6, 2028.
The studio posted the teaser to X on Wednesday with a simple caption: “10.6.28. Only In Theaters.”
The new date pushes the long-awaited sequel back nearly a full year from its previously announced November 19, 2027 slot, as Deadline reported. Warner Bros. has not given a public reason for the shift.
Chris Columbus, who wrote the 1984 original, is directing the third installment from a script he co-wrote with Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein. Steven Spielberg returns as executive producer through Amblin Entertainment. Joe Dante, who directed the first two films, is not involved this time around.
It will be the first Gremlins movie since Gremlins 2: The New Batch in 1990, arriving 38 years after the sequel and 44 years after the original. Production is expected to begin in early 2027.
Warner Bros. also used the date shuffle to move DC Studios’ Dynamic Duo from June 30, 2028 to September 22, 2028, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
