It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood for families and Muppet fans everywhere. Sesame Workshop has officially teamed up with YouTube to launch the largest digital library of “Sesame Street” content ever available for free. This massive expansion brings over 100 full episodes to the platform, making it easier than ever to enjoy the magic of Elmo, Big Bird, and the rest of the gang.
These episodes, which span from the very beginning of the series to more recent seasons, have been quietly rolling out over the last few weeks. You can now find them on the official Sesame Street and Sesame Street Classics channels, as well as the YouTube Kids app. This marks the first time such a significant portion of the show’s history has been accessible to stream without a paid subscription.
The collection is a goldmine for nostalgia seekers and new viewers alike. Among the 100-plus episodes is the legendary 1969 series premiere, where the world first met Bert, Ernie, and Kermit the Frog. Fans can also revisit “Goodbye Mr. Hooper,” the 1983 milestone episode that helped a generation of children understand grief, and the famous moment Big Bird finally proved to the adults that Mr. Snuffleupagus was real. Other highlights include the engagement of Maria and Luis and a special visit from the one and only Fred Rogers.
While “Sesame Street” remains a staple on PBS, HBO Max, and Netflix, this YouTube deal focuses on making iconic moments and educational content more accessible. In addition to the full-length episodes, the channels are offering new YouTube Shorts and curated compilations. These “binge-able” collections are themed around topics like STEM, the ABCs, and friendship, designed to keep kids engaged and learning.
YouTube officials noted that over half of the show’s watch time already happens on connected TVs, as families look for quality programming they can watch together. By opening up this massive vault of classic and modern episodes for free, Sesame Street is ensuring that its lessons of kindness and learning reach as many “brand-new pals” as possible.
