Disney and Pixar have unveiled the first official images from Toy Story 5, giving fans their long-awaited look at Woody and Buzz Lightyear ahead of the film’s release next summer. The familiar duo appear against the classic sky-blue backdrop, instantly transporting fans back to the beloved world that began nearly three decades ago.

The new images, released today through Pixar’s social channels, confirm the return of both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as the voices of Woody and Buzz. Fans were quick to notice a few small but meaningful details: Buzz now sports a gold star badge, while Woody’s sheriff badge is missing — a subtle nod to the ending of Toy Story 4, when Woody passed his badge to Jessie before parting ways.

Pixar has set Toy Story 5 for a theatrical release on June 19, 2026. The film will be directed by Andrew Stanton, with McKenna Harris serving as co-director and Jessica Choi producing. While the studio remains tight-lipped about plot specifics, early reports suggest the story will explore how toys adapt in a world increasingly defined by technology. At last year’s Destination D23 event, Disney offered attendees a brief five-minute preview that hinted at new characters and emotional reunions.

Tim Allen recently shared that the film will center heavily on Jessie’s story, with Woody and Buzz once again finding themselves on intersecting paths. The returning cast also includes Joan Cusack as Jessie, Tony Hale as Forky, and Ernie Hudson taking over the role of Combat Carl following the passing of Carl Weathers.

Although no trailer has been released yet, these new images mark the first official promotional push for Toy Story 5. They not only confirm the return of two of Pixar’s most iconic characters but also reassure fans that the heart and humor of the franchise remain intact.
