Amazon’s Freevee to Debut 23 New Channels in Partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and MGM

NOTE: This article is 11 months old and may not include the most recent information.

In a significant expansion of its content offerings, Amazon’s Freevee, the free ad-supported streaming service, is set to launch 23 new Free Ad-Supported Television (FAST) channels. This move comes as a result of new deals with Warner Bros. Discovery and MGM, two of Hollywood’s most recognizable brands.

The new channels will include 12 MGM-branded channels, featuring films and shows such as “The Pink Panther,” “Stargate,” “Green Acres,” and “The Outer Limits.” Other MGM-branded channels will focus on specific genres, with offerings like “MGM Presents: Action” and “MGM Presents: Sci Fi.” This follows Amazon’s acquisition of MGM last year, further integrating the studio’s content into Amazon’s streaming ecosystem.

In addition to the MGM content, Freevee will also launch 11 channels featuring Discovery and Warner Bros. Discovery studio content. The new channels will heavily feature unscripted content, with shows like “Cake Boss,” “Extreme Couponing,” “Say Yes to the Dress,” and “Ghost Brothers” becoming available on the platform.

Freevee has been assertive in its strategy to launch new FAST channels, leveraging its original content such as “Judy Justice” and recently announcing plans to incorporate Prime Video content into the service. The streaming service also has existing deals with other studios, including Lionsgate.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery has been actively seeking to sell more of its content to FAST services. Earlier this year, Roku and Tubi secured deals for a range of shows, including HBO Max programming like “Westworld” and Warner TV shows like “The Bachelor.”

This expansion of Freevee’s offerings underscores the growing competition in the streaming market, particularly in the realm of free, ad-supported content. With these new channels, Amazon continues to strengthen its position in the market, offering a diverse range of content to its users.
