Wednesday night belonged to I Play Rocky in New York, where Anthony Ippolito, AnnaSophia Robb, Stephan James, Tracy Letts, Matt Dillon, P.J. Byrne and Toby Kebbell attended a special screening of the film at the SVA Theatre.
Director Peter Farrelly and writer Peter Gamble joined them for the celebration, along with producers Christian Baha, Michele Weiss and Toby Emmerich.

The film tells the true story of Sylvester Stallone, played by Ippolito, an unknown actor who wrote Rocky and turned down every offer that came with someone else in the lead role, betting on himself to play Rocky Balboa. Robb plays Sasha Czack, Stallone’s first wife. The New York night follows the film’s Los Angeles premiere at AFI Fest in October, and TDN readers have already seen Ippolito step into the role in the film’s first clip and its second trailer.
Audiences in three cities get the next round: I Play Rocky opens Friday, November 6 in select theaters in Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia, before reaching theaters everywhere on November 20. The film is rated PG-13.
