In the days since Hayden Panettiere’s death at 36, fans have been revisiting the roles that carried her from child star to leading lady over three decades on screen. Her filmography spans a Pixar classic, two era-defining television roles and a horror franchise she helped carry into a new generation, and most of it is still just a few clicks away. Here’s where to find her best work right now.
Panettiere’s biggest breakout came on NBC’s Heroes, where she played Claire Bennet, the indestructible cheerleader at the center of the show’s ensemble, across four seasons beginning in 2006. The series is streaming on Netflix and Tubi.
She found equal, if not greater, success on Nashville, playing rising country star Juliette Barnes for six seasons starting in 2012, a role many consider her defining performance. Nashville is currently streaming on Netflix, though it’s set to leave the service on September 14, and it’s also available on Pluto TV, Philo and Sling TV.
Panettiere returned to the Scream franchise twice as Kirby Reed, first in 2011’s Scream 4 and again more than a decade later in 2023’s Scream VI. Scream 4 is streaming on Paramount+ and The Roku Channel, while Scream VI is available on Paramount+, Netflix and The Roku Channel.
Long before any of that, Panettiere was already a familiar face to young audiences. She voiced the young version of Dot in Pixar’s A Bug’s Life in 1998 and later starred as figure skater Gen Harwood in 2005’s Ice Princess, both of which are streaming on Disney+. She also played Sheryl Yoast opposite Denzel Washington in 2000’s Remember the Titans, streaming on Hulu and Disney+, and led the cheer comedy Bring It On: All or Nothing in 2006, streaming on Netflix and Tubi.
She took on more dramatic material as well, starring in the title role of Lifetime’s 2011 telefilm Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy, which is streaming on Hulu and Netflix.
Her final film, the psychological thriller Sleepwalker, was released in January 2026, just months before her death. Panettiere starred in and executive produced the movie, which also features Beverly D’Angelo, Justin Chatwin and Mischa Barton. Sleepwalker is available to rent or purchase on Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango.
Streaming availability shifts often, so it’s worth double checking a title before settling in, but for now, Panettiere’s most memorable roles are all still there to revisit.
