Hayden Panettiere, the actor best known for playing Claire Bennet on Heroes and Juliette Barnes on Nashville, has died at 36. Her representative confirmed the news on August 16, 2026, saying: “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her, and to the millions who watched her onscreen.” A cause of death has not been disclosed.
Panettiere began her career as a child actor, appearing in films including Remember the Titans, Raising Helen and Ice Princess before landing the role that made her a household name. As Claire Bennet, the cheerleader with regenerative powers on NBC’s Heroes, she became one of the most recognizable young stars of the 2000s. Michelle Rodriguez, who co-hosted the 2010 World Music Awards with Panettiere, recalled her “curious spirit” and how happy and joyous she always seemed.
