The cast of “The Miniature Wife” hit the red carpet at the DGA Theater Complex in Los Angeles just last night for the series premiere event, and the buzz coming out of it is very real. Sofia Rosinsky was there alongside Elizabeth Banks, Matthew Macfadyen, O-T Fagbenle, and Zoe Lister-Jones, and Peacock has now released a batch of first look images ahead of the series’ official streaming debut this Thursday. We are sharing them all below, and they give us our most comprehensive look yet at Sofia as Lulu, the daughter of Banks’ character Lindy. Every single shot reinforces why we are so excited to see her in this role.
Among the images, one stands out immediately: Lulu sitting at the kitchen table gazing at her mother Lindy, who is perched atop a cup in the middle of the table, no bigger than a figurine. It is a quietly devastating composition that speaks directly to the heart of the show: a daughter trying to navigate a family life that has been turned completely upside down. What is compelling about it is that it keeps the focus on Lulu’s steady, searching gaze rather than the spectacle of the miniaturization itself. There is something very grounded and real about it, which tracks with what the creators have said about the series taking its time with the human side of the story before leaning into the absurdity.
“The Miniature Wife” is a dramedy based on Manuel Gonzales’ short story from his 2013 collection, created by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner (Boardwalk Empire, Goliath). Macfadyen has described the show as “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids crossed with Scenes from a Marriage,” and from this image alone, it is easy to see how both halves of that description coexist. The series sparked a competitive bidding war among streamers before landing at Peacock, and has already sold to over 70 countries ahead of its premiere. All 10 episodes drop at once this Thursday, April 9, exclusively on Peacock, and we will have more coverage once we have had a chance to watch.
