Sina Drums has released a new cover of TOTO’s 1982 classic “Africa,” calling it a key addition to her growing catalog of tributes to the legendary rock band. Recorded at Sound Vision Studio in Arnhem, Netherlands, the performance features a large international ensemble and presents the iconic track with modern production polish while retaining a fully live, instrument driven approach.

The arrangement highlights the collaborative scale of the project. Vocal duties are split to reflect the song’s dynamic structure, with Effie Anna handling the verses and Megija Marija delivering the powerful choruses. Backing vocals from Larissa Kotzwander and Janne Audomara add depth to the harmonies, contributing to the song’s expansive sound.

Instrumentally, the cover leans into organic performance rather than synthesized elements. The song’s signature melodic lines are carried by live tenor and baritone saxophones performed by Camilo Bastidas and Leonel Nordmann, supported by additional live percussion from Caetano Ruin. Bassist Nils Neumann also oversaw the audio and video production, shaping the overall sonic and visual presentation.

A Long-Term Rollout Strategy

“Africa” is part of a broader series of performances recorded during the Arnhem studio sessions. Sina has been releasing these videos gradually over the past several months, allowing each song to stand on its own. Earlier releases such as “Falling in Between” appeared roughly nine months ago, followed more recently by tracks including “Pamela” and “White Sister.” The staggered rollout has drawn attention to the technical demands of TOTO’s catalog and the musicianship required to perform it convincingly.

The release also coincides with a major milestone for Sina’s online presence. Her primary YouTube channel recently surpassed 1.9 million subscribers, supported by a library of more than 600 videos that have accumulated over 800 million views. Her audience extends across multiple platforms, with more than 143K followers on Instagram and 120.2K on TikTok.

For longtime viewers, the “Africa” cover represents another step in Sina Doering’s evolution from teenage YouTube standout to established professional musician. A graduate of the ArtEZ Conservatory with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz and Pop Drums, she continues to leverage her digital reach to support large scale independent productions. Fans interested in backing future projects can do so through her Patreon.
