For decades, Saturday nights in America have meant one thing: live sketch comedy, political satire, and iconic musical guests. Now, our friends across the Atlantic are officially getting their own taste of the magic. After years of rumors, the buzz is finally reality—Saturday Night Live UK is a go, and we just got the biggest update yet.
Sky officially confirmed today that the first-ever British incarnation of the legendary late-night institution will premiere on March 21. For American fans, this is more than just a remake; it’s a massive cultural expansion for the SNL brand. The show will air live from London, bringing that “high-wire, anything-can-happen” energy to Sky and the streaming service NOW.
The inaugural “Not Ready for Prime Time” British players have been named, and the 11-person cast is a stacked mix of rising stars and award winners. The lineup includes Hammed Animashaun (Black Ops), 2025 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Ayoade Bamgboye, Emma Sidi (Starstruck), and Ania Magliano (Taskmaster). Joining them are Larry Dean, Celeste Dring (The Windsors), George Fouracres, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep (Big Boys), and Paddy Young (Everyone Else Burns).
Production is staying true to the roots, with Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video executive producing. James Longman, who previously worked on The Late Late Show with James Corden, is serving as lead producer, and Daran Jonno Johnson has been tapped as head writer. The format remains identical to the 8H original: a celebrity host, a musical guest, and even a localized version of “Weekend Update.”
While the show is currently set for the UK, American audiences should keep their eyes peeled. With Comcast owning both Sky and NBCUniversal, it’s highly likely these episodes will eventually find a home on Peacock. Until then, get ready for the iconic cry to change just a little: “Live from London, it’s Saturday Night!”
