The halls of Nevermore Academy are about to get a lot more crowded—and a lot more dangerous. Following the massive success of the second season, which dominated Netflix charts this past summer, we have official word that production for Wednesday season three is just around the corner.
During recent interviews, cast members Luis Guzmán and Hunter Doohan confirmed that the team is scheduled to return to Dublin, Ireland, to begin filming in February 2026. While fans were originally hoping for a late 2025 start, the brief delay has allowed the creative team to sharpen the scripts for what promises to be the show’s most ambitious season yet. Production is expected to run for approximately seven to eight months, likely wrapping up by the end of the summer.
One of the most exciting updates for the new season is the expansion of the Addams family tree. Netflix has officially cast Eva Green as Aunt Ophelia, Morticia’s sister. Green’s haunting and elegant screen presence makes her a perfect fit for the gothic world of the series, and her character was already teased in the season two finale as a mysterious figure with a dark agenda. Jenna Ortega will, of course, return as our titular heroine and will continue her dual role as an executive producer, ensuring the show maintains the darker, horror-centric tone she has championed.
While the plot is still being kept under a shroud of mystery, showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have hinted that season three will delve deeper into the Addams family’s dark secrets and explore more of the supernatural lore surrounding Nevermore. With filming taking place throughout 2026, the series is notably absent from Netflix’s 2026 release slate, making a 2027 premiere the most likely scenario for fans waiting to see what happens next.
