Violet McGraw has become a staple here at Trevor Decker News, especially following her fantastic work in the M3GAN universe. If you have been waiting to see what else she has up her sleeve in the horror realm, there is some exciting news coming out of Paramount Pictures and Walter Hamada’s 18hz. The studio has preemptively acquired a new horror short titled The Littles with plans to develop it into a feature film.
Andrew Duplessie, known for his work as a producer on American Horror Stories and as a bestselling author, wrote, directed, and produced the short film. He is set to return to those duties for the feature-length adaptation. The project recently premiered to a sold-out crowd at New York Comic Con, where McGraw was in attendance to support the film.
The story centers on 11-year-old Juliet, played by McGraw. The plot kicks off with a painful but seemingly mundane accident—stubbing a toe on a loose floorboard. However, this small event triggers a series of mysterious occurrences. As Juliet investigates the oddities in her home, she is pulled into a chilling, otherworldly encounter that threatens to unravel her reality and reveal what is hiding beneath the floorboards.
What makes The Littles particularly unique is its visual style. The project integrates live-action performance with stop-motion animation. The animation comes from Anthony Scott, an alum of The Nightmare Before Christmas, adding a distinct layer of creepiness to the production. Alongside McGraw, the short film stars Janel Parrish, known for Pretty Little Liars, and Dominic Sherwood from Shadowhunters.
Duplessie expressed his excitement about the partnership with 18hz, noting that Hamada and his team are true horror aficionados who understood the vision immediately. This acquisition marks another move for 18hz, which recently renewed its production pact with Paramount. While we wait for more news on when filming might begin for the feature version of The Littles, fans can look forward to seeing McGraw continue to dominate the genre.
