Lady Gaga has officially joined the dark and eccentric world of Netflix’s Wednesday. The global pop icon not only contributed a brand-new song, “The Dead Dance,” to the series but also made a surprise cameo in part two of season two, adding another layer of intrigue to the gothic mystery drama.

“The Dead Dance” makes its dramatic entrance in episode seven, titled “Woe Me the Money.” The track, written by Gaga alongside Andrew Watt and Henry Walter, and produced with Watt and Cirkut, accompanies one of the season’s standout moments — an elaborate dance scene featuring Enid (Emma Myers) and Agnes (Evie Templeton). In true Tim Burton fashion, the sequence blends macabre visuals with surreal choreography, heightening the tension while allowing the characters to step into a rare moment of expressive release. Gaga’s haunting lyrics and pulsing beats amplify the eerie-yet-hypnotic vibe of the scene, cementing it as one of the most talked-about highlights of the season.

The music video, directed by Tim Burton himself, mirrors the unsettling atmosphere that fans of the series have come to expect. Shot mostly in black and white, it begins with Gaga against a wall of cracked, lifeless dolls before she launches into movements that resemble a corpse being jolted awake. The unsettling choreography bridges the worlds of horror and performance art, aligning perfectly with the track’s gothic tone and its place within the series.

But Gaga’s contributions to Wednesday go beyond the soundtrack. She also makes a guest appearance as Rosaline Rotwood, a Raven and former Nevermore Academy teacher who returns in ghostly form. Introduced in episode six, “Woe Thyself,” Rotwood’s spectral presence becomes central to Wednesday’s (Jenna Ortega) desperate attempt to regain her psychic abilities. However, Rotwood’s guidance is far from straightforward, and her intervention leads to one of the season’s biggest twists: Wednesday and Enid switching bodies. This unexpected turn forces the two best friends to walk in each other’s shoes — literally — and explore the depths of their bond in order to survive.

With “The Dead Dance” now available on streaming platforms and its striking Burton-directed video released alongside its in-show debut, Lady Gaga’s involvement in Wednesday marks one of the most memorable crossovers between music and television this year. Her spectral role, combined with the haunting energy of her new single, makes season two’s back half even more unpredictable and unforgettable.
