

Netflix Shares Trailer for ‘Ruth & Boaz,’ a Modern Retelling of the Biblical Story

The film centers on Ruth Moably (Serayah McNeill), a rising Atlanta hip-hop artist who steps away from the music industry after a personal tragedy. She relocates to rural Tennessee, where she takes on the responsibility of caring for Naomi (Phylicia Rashad), the mother of her late boyfriend. While navigating her new life, Ruth forms an unexpected connection with Boaz (Tyler Lepley), a vineyard owner known for his generosity and grounded nature.
Directed by Alanna Brown, the screenplay was written by Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan. The project is produced by DeVon Franklin and Tyler Perry, with Bart Lipton, Tony L. Strickland, and Angi Bones serving as executive producers.
In addition to its leading cast, the film includes appearances by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Gregalan Williams, Nijah Brenea, Walnette Santiago, James Thomas, Christopher Broughton, Jermaine Dupri, and Chaundre Hall-Broomfield. Edmonds also contributes an original song performed by Serayah.
Ruth & Boaz is described as a modern reimagining of the biblical narrative, combining themes of faith, healing, and second chances in a contemporary setting.
