Jenna Ortega Returns in ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Sneak Peek as Netflix Teases Bigger Role for the Addams Family

Netflix has officially lifted the curtain on Season 2 of Wednesday, and fans now have their first real look at what’s to come. In a newly released behind-the-scenes featurette, we see the return of Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams alongside an expanded spotlight on the entire Addams family. With the series premiere just a few months away, the footage offers a blend of familiar gloom, fresh faces, and a renewed focus on family dynamics.

Season 2 of Wednesday will be split into two parts, with Part 1 premiering on August 6 and Part 2 arriving on September 3. This structure gives fans a staggered release while keeping the momentum going as new mysteries unfold.

In the sneak peek, Ortega offers some insight into what viewers can expect, hinting at a darker tone and more chaos for her character to navigate. “It’s really exciting because we’re definitely leaning into a little more horror,” she says. “In the first season, we didn’t really get to see Wednesday in the midst of the chaos as much.”

But perhaps most intriguing for longtime fans is the show’s decision to expand the Addams family presence this season. As one of the creators notes, “There really isn’t a lot of Addams Family lore, so we wanted to delve deeper into the family.” That shift is reflected in the Season 2 cast, which brings several key family members to the forefront.

In addition to returning cast members like Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, viewers will meet Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump and Joonas Suotamo as a new take on Lurch.

The series also welcomes an impressive list of newcomers in both prominent and mysterious roles. Steve Buscemi joins as Principal Dort, Billie Piper plays Isadora Capri, and Christopher Lloyd—who famously played Uncle Fester in the ’90s films—appears as Professor Orloff. Other additions include Thandiwe Newton, Heather Matarazzo, Haley Joel Osment, and Anthony Michael Hall, all in currently undisclosed roles. Even Lady Gaga is listed among the cast, fueling wild speculation across the internet.

Meanwhile, familiar faces from Nevermore Academy also return. Emma Myers reprises her breakout role as Enid, along with Hunter Doohan as Tyler, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene, and Georgie Farmer as Ajax.

Behind the camera, Tim Burton returns to direct half of the new season’s episodes, maintaining the visual flair and gothic tone that helped define the series. The remaining episodes will be helmed by Paco Cabezas (The Umbrella Academy) and Angela Robinson (Professor Marston & the Wonder Women). Series creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are once again steering the ship as showrunners.

With Jenna Ortega back in her role and a stronger emphasis on Addams Family lore, Season 2 looks to build on the runaway success of the first installment while expanding its spooky world. From eerie new characters to deeper family connections, the sneak peek makes it clear: Wednesday is ready to embrace even more of the macabre—and fans wouldn’t want it any other way.
