If you haven’t heard of Lawrence yet, you’re not alone—but that’s about to change. Last night, the sibling-led soul-pop ensemble made their Tonight Show debut, delivering an electrifying performance of their latest single, “Whatcha Want.” With their infectious energy and tight musical arrangements, Lawrence is quickly rising as a must-watch band in the music world.

Sibling Synergy: The Heart of Lawrence

At the heart of Lawrence’s captivating sound is the sibling duo of Clyde and Gracie Lawrence. Growing up in a musical household in New York City, the pair spent their childhood writing songs and listening to countless Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman, and Aretha Franklin records. After years of playing together, they officially created Lawrence in 2013, an eight-piece soul-pop band comprised of musician friends from childhood and college. Their high-energy, keyboard-driven sound, which features tight, energetic horns and explosive lead vocals, has since gained them a devoted following.

From Living Room to the World Stage

Lawrence’s rise has been anything but typical. Their breakthrough came with the release of their 2021 album Hotel TV, which included the viral hit “Don’t Lose Sight.” The track’s success was further amplified by its feature in a Microsoft commercial, propelling it into the Top 20 on the USA Shazam Pop Charts. The band performed the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and closed their Coachella sets with it in front of enthusiastic crowds.

Live shows have been a crucial part of Lawrence’s ascent. They’ve opened for major acts like The Rolling Stones at MetLife Stadium and supported the Jonas Brothers on a massive North American tour. Now, in 2024, Lawrence enters a new era with the release of their fourth studio album, Family Business, on June 21. This album, accompanied by their largest headline tour yet across Europe and North America, features singles like “I’m Confident That I’m Insecure,” “23,” “Guy I Used To Be,” and the title track, “Family Business.”

A Family Affair: Family Business and Beyond

Family Business marks a significant milestone in Lawrence’s career. The album not only showcases their musical growth but also delves into the complexities of their unique dynamic as a family-led musical group. With its blend of catchy pop hooks, soulful vocals, and heartfelt lyrics, Family Business solidifies Lawrence’s place as a rising star in the music world. Their recent electrifying performance on The Tonight Show has only further fueled their ascent.
