Exciting news for horror fans: Neve Campbell has officially announced her return as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming “Scream 7” film. The actress took to Instagram to share the news, expressing her excitement to reprise her iconic role in the beloved franchise.

In addition to Campbell’s return, it was revealed that Kevin Williamson, the original writer of the first “Scream” movie, will be taking the helm as director for this installment. Guy Busick, known for his work on “Scream” (2022) and “Scream VI,” will pen the script, taking over from James Vanderbilt, who is currently busy directing “Nuremberg.”

The “Scream” franchise has faced some challenges in recent months, with actress Melissa Barrera being let go due to comments she made on social media regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict. Additionally, Jenna Ortega departed the project due to scheduling conflicts, leaving fans uncertain about the future of the series.

However, with Campbell’s return and Williamson at the helm, it seems that “Scream 7” is back on track. Vanderbilt will continue to produce the film alongside his Project X Entertainment partners William Sherak and Paul Neinstein, while Radio Silence will serve as executive producers.

As of now, no release date has been set for “Scream 7,” but horror enthusiasts can rest assured that the project is moving forward with a talented team behind it. Campbell’s return as the resilient Sidney Prescott is sure to delight fans who have followed her character’s journey throughout the franchise.
