In the latest episode of “Dancing With the Stars,” young actress Xochitl Gomez proved her mettle as she powered through an injury sustained during her performance. After delivering a stunning contemporary number to “Game of Survival” by Ruelle alongside her dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy, Gomez appeared to be hurt. The camera briefly cut away after their performance, and when it returned, Chmerkovskiy was seen helping Gomez off the platform, as she leaned on him while hopping on one leg.
Despite her injury, Gomez was determined to continue with the show. In an Instagram story posted later, she revealed that she had scraped herself on a set piece while climbing an altar. The video showed a makeup artist covering a bandaged wound on Gomez’s knee with foundation to match her skin tone. Gomez assured her followers that she was okay and ready to take on the dance marathon.
True to her word, Gomez and Chmerkovskiy not only participated in the dance marathon but also topped the leaderboard with a score of 37 out of 40, receiving a perfect 10 from guest judge Niecy Nash-Betts. The duo continued to excel in the dance marathon, ultimately clinching the top spot and earning an additional five bonus points, bringing their total score to 42. The victory was celebrated with a shower of red confetti, reminiscent of the classic horror movie “Carrie.”
At just 17 years old, Gomez has consistently been a frontrunner in season 32 of “Dancing With the Stars,” earning scores that place her near the top of the leaderboard. She is widely recognized for her role as America Chavez in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+, with streaming available the following day on Hulu.
