Angus Cloud, who shot to fame playing the beloved character Fezco on HBO’s hit teen drama Euphoria, has died suddenly at the young age of 25. Cloud passed away Monday at his family home in Oakland, California, his loved ones shared in a statement.

The actor’s death comes just one week after Cloud attended the funeral for his father, who was his best friend and mentor. Cloud had been open about his mental health struggles even as his star rose following his breakout role on Euphoria. His family hopes Angus’ untimely passing at the peak of his career can serve as a cautionary reminder to others quietly battling similar issues that there is always help available. They ask that fans respect their privacy during this tremendously difficult time.

Cloud first captured the hearts of viewers with his nuanced portrayal of the kind-hearted drug dealer Fezco when Euphoria premiered on HBO back in 2019. Despite having no previous acting experience, the Oakland native demonstrated a natural ability on-screen opposite series lead Zendaya, with whom he attended high school.

While beloved for his Euphoria role, Cloud had begun racking up a series of other prominent acting and music video gigs. He appeared in videos for major artists including Juice WRLD, Noah Cyrus, and Becky G & Karol G. On the film side, Cloud had roles in 2021’s North Hollywood and 2023’s The Line. At the time of his shocking death, the rising star had a Universal Monsters feature and several other acting projects in development.

The actor also maintained a close connection to his hometown of Oakland, where he was born in 1998. He is survived by his parents, brother and twin sisters. Cloud’s family has requested privacy as they grieve the enormous loss of Angus and his limitless potential.

Though only 25 years old, Angus Cloud had already made an indelible mark through his acting work. His performance as Euphoria’s Fezco will no doubt be remembered as one of the most beloved characters in teen television. While the entertainment world will certainly feel his absence, Cloud’s brief but stellar career will continue impacting audiences for years to come.
