Hocus Pocus 3: Disney Confirms Development of New Sequel

NOTE: This article is 11 months old and may not include the most recent information.

In a significant announcement for fans of the beloved “Hocus Pocus” franchise, Disney has confirmed that “Hocus Pocus 3” is currently in development. This news comes just in time for the original film’s 30-year anniversary and follows the streaming success of last year’s “Hocus Pocus 2”.

The third installment in the series was revealed during a New York Times interview with Sean Bailey, President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production. Bailey noted that “Hocus Pocus 3” is one of many projects on his future roster, which includes roughly 50 other titles in various stages of development.

“Hocus Pocus 2”, which reunited the central stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy 29 years after the release of director Kenny Ortega’s 1993 original, broke streaming records for the Disney+ platform upon its debut. The film saw the return of the Sanderson Sisters, who terrorized a modern-day group of teenage girls who unwittingly brought them back from the dead on Halloween.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly for “Hocus Pocus 2”, Midler, Parker, and Najimy shared their thoughts on continuing the series for a third film. Midler expressed her enthusiasm for reprising her favorite character and the possibility of the series becoming a franchise. Parker added that a potential third film could be animated, which she believes would be innovative and interesting.

The development of “Hocus Pocus 3” is still in its early stages, and representatives for Disney and the films’ stars have not yet commented on the project. However, the success of the previous films and the enduring popularity of the franchise suggest that the third installment will be eagerly anticipated by fans.

Stay tuned for more updates on “Hocus Pocus 3” and other upcoming Disney projects.
