Jenna Ortega who has garnered widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Wednesday Addams in the Netflix series ‘Wednesday,’ has recently become the subject of mockery by striking Hollywood writers. However, her loyal fanbase has come to her defense, arguing that she’s being unfairly targeted for union issues that are unrelated to her actions.

The conflict began after Ortega’s comments on the Armchair Expert podcast in March, where she mentioned that she had taken it upon herself to change certain lines of her script. According to the young actress, some of the lines and situations in the script didn’t make sense for her character, which led her to make alterations.

In response, striking writers have taken to social media to mock Ortega. Nick Adams, a writer for BoJack Horseman, tweeted, “Jenna Ortega better be back from NY for her afternoon shift on the picket line.” Karen Joseph Adcock, a writer for The Bear, also chimed in, saying, “Rewriting is writing! See you at the line, Jenna.” A picket line sign from House Party writer Brandon Cohen was spotted by Variety, which read, “Without writers, Jenna Ortega will have nothing to punch up!”

However, Jenna Ortega’s fans have not taken kindly to the teasing, arguing that the actress is being scapegoated for broader union disputes that have nothing to do with her. Many of them have taken to social media to defend Ortega and express their support.

Despite the controversy, Jenna Ortega’s talent is undeniable. Her performance in ‘Wednesday’ has been lauded by critics and viewers alike, and she’s even considered a frontrunner for an Emmy nomination for best actress. The series itself has been renewed for a second season, providing further testament to its success.

As the Hollywood writers’ strike continues, it’s important to remember that Ortega’s actions were driven by her commitment to her character and a desire to stay true to Wednesday Addams’ essence. While the striking writers may have their grievances, fans of Jenna Ortega hope that the focus remains on resolving the underlying issues, rather than targeting the actress for her dedication to her craft.
