Questlove to Direct Disney’s ‘The Aristocats’ in a Blend of Live-Action and Animation

NOTE: This article is 1 year old and may not include the most recent information.

Disney’s beloved classic, The Aristocats, is set to receive a fresh makeover as a live-action/animated hybrid under the direction of none other than Questlove. Deadline reports that the musician and producer, whose real name is Ahmir Thompson, will make his feature film directorial debut with this ambitious project.

Although specific details regarding the animated and live-action elements are still under wraps, it’s clear that Questlove’s unique touch is bound to create a memorable experience. In addition to directing, he will serve as an executive producer and oversee the music for the film, working from a script penned by Will Gluck and Keith Bunin.

For those who may not recall, The Aristocats first graced the silver screen in 1970. This charming tale follows a family of Parisian cats who are set to inherit a fortune from their owner. When a jealous butler kidnaps them and leaves them stranded in the countryside, the feline family enlists the help of a streetwise tomcat to find their way home.

Questlove’s Aristocats project is just the latest in Disney’s growing list of animated classics being reimagined as live-action films. The upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, starring Halle Bailey, is slated for release in May. As Disney continues to breathe new life into its beloved stories, fans eagerly await the magic that awaits in this modern retelling of The Aristocats.
