Get ready to go back to Rydell High with Paramount+’s new original series, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies. The musical series, set four years before the events of the iconic movie, Grease, premieres on April 6, 2023, with two episodes exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada. The following day, it will be available in the U.K., Australia, Latin America, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and France. The series will consist of ten episodes, and new episodes will be released weekly on Thursdays for U.S. and Canadian subscribers, and on Fridays for subscribers in the other mentioned countries.

The official music video for the single, “Grease Is the Word,” has just been released by Paramount+. The song is a modern take on the classic “Grease” written by Barry Gibb and performed by Frankie Valli, which served as the opening track of the 1978 musical film. It is one of 30 original songs that will be featured in the first season of the show. Justin Tranter, a GRAMMY Award-nominated songwriter, is the executive music producer for the series. Choreographer Jamal Sims has led the dance numbers for each song, as seen in the music video.

The show stars Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, Shanel Bailey as Hazel, Madison Thompson as Susan, Johnathan Nieves as Richie, Jason Schmidt as Buddy, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper as Wally and Jackie Hoffman as Asst. Principal McGee.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies follows four fed-up outcasts who dare to have fun on their own terms in 1954, before rock ‘n’ roll ruled and before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school. Their actions spark a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever.

The series is written and executive produced by Annabel Oakes, who also serves as showrunner and directed an episode. Alethea Jones directed the pilot and two more episodes and Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey executive produce for Temple Hill. Adam Fishbach also executive produces, and it’s produced by Grace Gilroy. Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey executive produce via PICTURESTART.
