Disney’s highly anticipated live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” has been the talk of the town since its announcement. The casting of Halle Bailey as Ariel sparked excitement and anticipation among fans, and now, she has shared her emotional reaction to seeing the first look of her character’s doll.

In an Instagram post, Bailey revealed the new Ariel doll styled after her character in the upcoming film. She expressed her emotions by saying, “I am literally choking up because this means so much to me. And to have one that looks like me, that’s my favorite Disney character, is very surreal.”

Bailey’s portrayal of Ariel in the film is set to bring a refreshing take to the beloved character. As the youngest and most rebellious of King Triton’s daughters, Ariel longs to explore the world beyond the sea and falls for the charming Prince Eric. Despite the rules forbidding interaction between mermaids and humans, Ariel follows her heart and makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, putting her life and her father’s crown in danger.

The upcoming live-action adaptation boasts an all-star cast, including Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric. Bailey is also a part of the musical duo Chlöe x Halle and is set to star in the upcoming movie musical adaptation of “The Color Purple.”

The film is directed by Rob Marshall and written by David Magee, with a live-action story adaptation by David Magee, Rob Marshall, and John DeLuca. The music is by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Howard Ashman and new lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The release date for the new Ariel doll has not yet been revealed. However, fans can look forward to “The Little Mermaid” swimming into movie theaters on May 26. With Bailey’s portrayal of Ariel, along with the impressive cast and production team, it’s sure to be a film that Disney fans won’t want to miss.
