The film M3GAN, which features a robot doll as the main character, has been performing well at the box office and a sequel has been announced. Additionally, the film has had an impact on the music industry, specifically with the song “Titanium” by David Guetta and Sia.
In the film, the character M3GAN sings a portion of the song to comfort her human companion after a traumatic incident. This scene has led to an increase in streams of the original “Titanium” and Sia released a new version of the song, “Megan’s V3rsion,” days after the film’s premiere.
According to Luminate, during the film’s first week of release, the original “Titanium” saw a 4.6% increase in weekly U.S. on-demand streams, reaching 1.6 million. “Megan’s V3rsion” has earned 226,000 U.S. on-demand streams to date. The sequel, titled M3GAN 2.0, is set to be released on January 17, 2025. As the release date for the sequel is still a few years away, it will be interesting to see if the film’s impact on the music industry continues and what songs will be featured in the upcoming film.
