Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of the legendary Elvis Presley, passed away at the age of 54 on Thursday. She was rushed to the hospital earlier in the day after experiencing cardiac arrest in her Calabasas, California home.
Many celebrities took to social media to pay their respects and share their condolences. LeAnn Rimes wrote on Twitter, “I hope she is at peace in her dad’s arms. My heart goes out to her family. Too much grief in just a couple of years.” Nicolas Cage said in a statement, “This is devastating news. Lisa had the greatest laugh of anyone I ever met. She lit up every room, and I am heartbroken.”
Cary Elwes, who co-wrote the 2016 film Elvis & Nixon, called her loss “heartbreakingly sad.” Leah Remini shared that “Lisa did not have an easy life, as some might think.” Billy Corgan, who collaborated with Presley early in her career, tweeted an emotional message about how “there is heartbreak and then there is sorrow.”
PETA’s senior vice president also shared a statement, praising Presley’s efforts to help animals. Juliette Lewis also shared a series of posts on her Instagram story, expressing her grief over the loss.
Presley’s family has asked for privacy as they try to deal with this profound loss. Priscilla Presley, her mother, said in a statement, “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
