On Saturday December 10, Jackie Evancho, the 22-year-old soprano who rose to fame on “America’s Got Talent,” delivered a breathtaking performance of the gospel song “How Great Thou Art” at a local Christmas concert in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA.
Jackie, who released her Christmas EP “O Holy Night” in 2010 and has since followed with two more holiday albums, “Heavenly Christmas” (2011) and “Someday at Christmas” (2016), mesmerized the crowd with her powerful vocals and moved many to tears with the emotional rendition. In 2020, she also appeared on season 3 of “The Masked Singer” as “Kitty” and finished fifth.
Jackie Evancho gained national recognition as a contestant on the fifth season of America’s Got Talent. She was only ten years old at the time, but her stunning voice and poise on stage captivated audiences and earned her a second-place finish on the show. Her audition for the show, which featured her singing “O Mio Babbino Caro” from the opera Gianni Schicchi, received a standing ovation from the judges and the audience. Throughout her time on the show, Evancho consistently impressed with her performances and her time on the show helped launch her career.
