Today sees the release of the second trailer for M3GAN, the upcoming horror film from Blumhouse and James Wan that will introduce the world to the killer doll for the first time on January 6, 2023.
This new M3GAN trailer was shown in theaters for the first time last weekend before the movie Violent Night. It has a new look and shows more of the main character’s unique and unsettling personality.
M3GAN is an AI wonder, a lifelike doll designed to be both a child’s best friend and a parent’s best ally. Gemma (Allison Williams, Get Out) is a talented roboticist at a toy manufacturer, and she designed M3GAN to become a companion, teacher, playmate, and protector for a kid she bonds with.
Gemma is thrown into the role of parenthood, to which she is unprepared when she takes in her orphaned niece Cady (Violet McGraw; The Haunting of Hill House). Cady is eight years old. As job pressure mounts, Gemma makes the fateful choice to link her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an effort to tackle both issues.
M3GAN is directed by award-winning director Gerard Johnstone (Housebound) and written by Akela Cooper (Malignant, The Nun 2) from a screenplay by Akela Cooper and James Wan. The film is produced by Jason Blum and James Wan.
