HBO Max has decided not to pursue a Degrassi revival series.

In January, the streaming service announced a series order for a new incarnation of the iconic Degrassi property, with a 2023 debut date. This summer, filming was supposed to take place in Toronto.

Degrassi, a reboot of the classic adolescent drama, was previously characterized as a character-driven series about the high school experience and the exhilarating, sometimes painful road of self-discovery. The new series, set in Toronto, was to follow a group of students and school teachers as they deal with situations that both bond them together and rip them apart.

Following The Kids of Degrassi Street, Degrassi Junior High, Degrassi High, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Degrassi: Next Class, the Degrassi revival series would have been the sixth installment in the Canadian teen drama franchise.
